Tips for Getting Noticed

With soccer being the number one youth sport in america, and the advancement of soccer club training in Atlanta, there are now thousands of aspiring soccer players in the Atlanta Soccer, North Georgia Soccer community. In addition,  there are millions of aspiring soccer players in the world, each with dreams of getting notices and reaching the top level of the game. Add this to the millions of agents, coaches and scouts and you begin to see the challenge they each face.

Faced with those overwhelming numbers, how does a Atlanta Soccer player get noticed?

In today’s era of soccer one must get a little creative in order to find opportunities that take them to the next level. How does one get noticed in order to attract the attention of an overseas club, or a coach, a scout or even an agent for that matter?

For many soccer players this can be a time consuming task. From creating a Playing Resume. To then working with your Atlanta Soccer Club in creating an actual highlights DVD of yourself. And then of course trusting that once you do finally manage to locate an agent, that they are willing and able to invest the time and energy required to distribute your highlight Soccer DVD and resume to the many overseas clubs or colleges in the hope of providing an opportunity for you to trial and get noticed.

You may choose to distribute your soccer resume and highlight DVD to individual coaches, colleges and scouts yourself. But then you must find the addresses of every single club or college you want to send it to and forward several copies overseas which can turn out to be quite an expensive exercise. Further still, you must now hope that when your package does arrive on the front door of a club, that it is viewed by the correct people or person, and secondly, as you are only a name on a piece of paper to the representative of this club at this stage, that your documents don’t collect dust in the top draw of someone’s desk without ever being looked at. That’s if it isn’t already collecting dust at the bottom of the office waste bin in the corner of the room.

So what else can you do to give yourself a chance of standing out in the Atlanta soccer community?

You need to get creative - What a lot of soccer players are now doing is joining social networking sites and creating groups that other young soccer players can join (under parent supervision if you are a minor). By doing this, you immediately create an opportunity to network and promote yourself as a soccer player. You also expand your contacts with like-minded soccer players around the world who may also present to you potential trial opportunities in their respective country. Some sites these days even allow you to create your own profile and upload your own video clips.

The greatest part about sites like these is that they are frequently visited by Scouts, Colleges, Agents and Clubs and can be a fantastic way to get yourself noticed and perhaps even earn yourself a trial with an overseas club. Remember, in a world as large as soccer you must first be seen in order to be realized.

With the advancement of soccer training in the Atlanta Soccer and North Georgia Soccer community, sometimes having talent and drive is simply not enough. Take advantage of the social networking opportunities that are out there for players and find creative ways to get noticed. Sometimes success comes from being diligent and creative the opportunity to be in the right place at the right time.
